🌱 KinderGarden On the Farm
At Sego Lily, we combine the best of private and public education to create a kindergarten experience that honors your child’s developmental stage while ensuring they are first-grade ready for any setting.
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): We prioritize the "heart" of the child. Through gentle guidance, we teach the essential life skills of conflict resolution, empathy, and self-regulation in a way that honors each child's unique temperament.
Science of Reading + Hands-on Learning: We bridge the gap between evidence-based literacy and nature, by integrating explicit phonics and phonemic awareness with tactile, outdoor discovery.
Number Literacy: We use the farm setting to develop number sense in real life situations such as counting seeds, measuring garden beds, and sorting natural collections to build a concrete, intuitive understanding of mathematical concepts.
Themed Science & Social Studies: Life skills and scientific inquiry are woven into seasonal cycles, where children learn through direct experience, they are learning by doing. This approach builds practical capability and a deep, scientific curiosity about the world around them.
Art & Outdoor Focused: Creativity is sparked by the natural world. Our daily rhythm includes immersion in the outdoors, complemented by artistic expressions like watercolor painting, fiber arts, and handwork.
Play as "The Work of the Child": Inspired by the belief that play is the highest form of research, we ensure discovery is fun, embedded in play, and fueled by a genuine joy for learning.
Communal & Nourishing Meals: This daily ritual fosters the opportunity to practice table manners and gratitude, while eating together as a community.
No High-Stakes Pressure: We bypass standardized testing in favor of a child-centered approach. Progress is documented through observational rubrics and work samples, capturing your child’s growth without the stress of "high-stakes" assessments.
